The Math runs a primary school for poor students numbering around 350. Books stationery, uniforms sets are also supplied at free of cost to these students as well as other school going students of the rural areas of Mekhliganj

Mekhliganj is a border area subdivision town of Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. The first principal of the school was the late Ganesh Chandra Gop. Later, when Rajya Sabha MP and former army chief General Shankar Roy Chowdhury came to Mekhliganj, his MP funds  were allocated for the construction of new classrooms in the city. Today the Shishu Vidyapeeth  stands as a children's school. In 2001, Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mekhliganj  became a branch center of Belur Math and the name of the school was changed to Ramakrishna Math. The life and messages of the Holy Trio along with stalwarts like that of Rabindranath Tagore etc are taught to the students  apart from the academic curriculum. Festivals like Saraswati Puja, Birth day’s of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, Youth Day celebrations, Independence Day, Republic Day are celebrated in the school premises.

The success of the school students in various competitive examinations and co-curricular activities is commendable. In the academic year of 2020, fifth grade/class has been introduced in the school.  Currently there are three hundred and fifty students in the school along with 11 teachers and four non-teaching staff. Swami Omkaratmananda, who is the Adhyaksha of the Ramakrishna Math, Mekhliganj is also the administrative head of this school.
